Devdaha Medical College Overview
Devdaha Medical College is in Bhaluhi-8, Devdaha, in Nepal’s Rupandehi district, near Butwal and Bhairahawa. It is a private college affiliated with Kathmandu University (KU), so graduates receive a Kathmandu University MBBS degree and follow KU’s curriculum and exam scheme.
When was Devdaha Medical College established?
You will see different “established” years online: 1991, 2006, 2008, 2013 and 2014. The most consistent record, Wikipedia’s list of Nepali medical colleges, shows the hospital opening in 2006 and the MBBS programme starting in 2014. That explains most of the confusion, since some sites count the hospital and others count the college. The 1991 date appears on a few listings but does not match the rest.
Campus size
The campus covers 20 bighas, roughly 33.5 acres. If you saw “33.47 acres” on one site and “20 bighas” on another, that is the same land. The college and hospital share the plot, so you walk from lecture hall to ward inside one compound.

Devdaha Medical College MBBS Seats
Sources give 75 and 90 MBBS seats, and neither tells you how many are open to Indian students, which is the number that matters. Before applying, ask the college in writing: “How many MBBS seats are open to Indian students this year, and how many were filled last year?” Keep the reply and its date.
The same goes for hospital beds. Ask how many are currently in operation, not how many are planned.
Why Choose Devdaha Medical College (and Who Should Think Twice)
The hospital is part of the campus
In MBBS, the real learning starts on the wards. With the hospital in the same compound, you spend your energy on patients, not on commuting. The college says the hospital runs a 24-hour emergency department, ICU, NICU, PICU, operation theatres, CT and a 1.5T MRI. Confirm the current equipment list during a visit or video tour.
It is close to India
The Sunauli border is about 31 km away, and Gorakhpur is roughly 118 km. If your family is in eastern Uttar Pradesh or Bihar, a parent can reach the campus in a day. That counts for more than brochures admit, especially in the first semester, when homesickness peaks.
The teaching style rewards questions
The college describes small-group tutorials, problem-based learning, early clinical exposure and community visits. That suits students who like discussing cases, and it is harder on those who only read before exams.
The setting is calm
Devdaha is semi-urban, with less traffic and fewer distractions. Some students focus better there, and others miss city life. If you have always lived in a metro, visit before committing.
Think twice if:
- you want the cheapest option in Nepal (the fee is mid-range, not low)
- you want a big-city campus with a lot of off-campus life
- you expect the college name to pass India’s licensing exam for you (see the recognition checks below)
Devdaha Medical College Eligibility and NEET Requirement
For Indian students, the requirements usually listed are:
- Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
- Around 50% in PCB for the general category and 40% for SC/ST/OBC (confirm with the college, since this figure varies by listing)
- NEET-UG qualified in the year you apply
- At least 17 years old on 31 December of the admission year
Is NEET mandatory for Devdaha Medical College?
Yes. Under National Medical Commission rules, an Indian student who plans to practise in India after studying MBBS abroad must have qualified NEET. Anyone offering “admission without NEET” is putting your eligibility to practise at home at risk. Read more in our guide to NEET requirements for MBBS in Nepal.
Is there an upper age limit?
Students in their mid-twenties, thirties and beyond ask this often. The Devdaha criteria above set a minimum age, but NTA and NMC conditions can change, so check the current NEET notice before you plan around it.
Devdaha Medical College Cutoff: What NEET Score Do You Need?
There is no single official cutoff published for Indian students at Devdaha. What exists is a two-layer system:
- The NEET qualifying percentileYou must clear the percentile NTA declares each year, historically the 50th for the general category and the 40th for SC/ST/OBC. Check the current year’s notice.
- The college’s selectionAmong qualified candidates, admission depends on seats open to Indian students and the number of applicants.
Some portals print a precise cutoff score without a source. Do not plan around it. Instead, ask the college: “What was the lowest NEET score admitted last year?” Note the answer and the date. If nobody will give you a number, treat that as information too. See also the NEET cutoff for MBBS in Nepal.

Documents Required for Devdaha Medical College Admission 2027
Keep both originals and scanned copies of:
- Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates
- NEET-UG scorecard and admit card
- Passport (or Aadhaar/voter ID for initial processing)
- Birth certificate
- Passport-size photographs
- Medical fitness certificate
- Apostille from India’s Ministry of External Affairs and legalisation by the Nepali embassy, for documents that require it
Why attestation needs its own calendar entry
Here is a sample scenario (not a real testimonial): a family receives an admission letter in mid-November, with classes starting in early December. Only then do they learn that marksheets need an apostille first, which means appointments and courier time. Had they started attestation the week the NEET result came out, the stress would have vanished. Start early. More detail in our MBBS in Nepal documents checklist.

Apostille and embassy legalisation take longer than most families expect. Our counsellor will share the order to do it in.
Devdaha Medical College Fees 2027
Before you budget for Devdaha Medical College Nepal admission 2027, it helps to know why fee numbers differ across websites. They are all “correct” and all different, because they measure different things.
Devdaha Medical College Tuition Fees
| Item | Figure | Source type |
|---|---|---|
| Foreign-student MBBS fee, KU-affiliated colleges | USD 75,000 | Nepali education portals |
| Total for Indian students, 2025–26 | ₹50 lakh | Consultant portal |
| Total for Indian students, 2026–27 | ₹60.5 lakh | Consultant portal |
| Hostel + mess, 2026–27 | ₹1.55 lakh per year | Consultant portal |
| Internship fee | ₹1.25 lakh | Consultant portal |
| Dress | ₹8,750 | Consultant portal |
| MBBS fee listed in Nepali rupees | NPR 45,95,720 | Nepal-side listing |
The NPR figure and the USD figure do not contradict each other. They apply to different student categories and fee bases. So when you see “₹45 lakh” on one site and “₹60 lakh” on another, ask which year, which student category, and what is included.
Worked example: the real five-year cost
Using one portal’s 2026–27 numbers, for a student who stays in the hostel for about five years:
| Component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Tuition | ₹60.5 lakh |
| Hostel + mess (₹1.55 lakh × 5) | ₹7.75 lakh |
| Internship fee | ₹1.25 lakh |
| Dress | ₹0.09 lakh |
| Total | About ₹69.6 lakh |
That excludes flights, personal spending and any yearly hostel increase. It is arithmetic from portal figures, not an official quote, but it shows why a “₹60 lakh” headline can become about ₹70 lakh in practice.
The early-payment discount
One portal says an 8% discount on tuition applies if you pay within three months of joining. On ₹60.5 lakh, that would be about ₹4.84 lakh. It is worth asking the college, in writing, whether this exists for your batch.
Scholarships
Nepal’s government does not offer MBBS scholarships to foreign students. When a website advertises a “scholarship,” ask exactly what it means, because it is often a discount, not a grant.
Ask before paying
- Is the fee fixed for all years, or can it rise?
- What does it include (exams, library, registration)?
- What is the refund policy if your visa or admission falls through?

Devdaha Medical College Living Cost
Hostel fees include the mess, so daily meals are largely covered. These are estimates for extra monthly spending, so check them with current students:
| Expense | Approx. monthly |
|---|---|
| Snacks, eating out, extras | ₹2,000–4,000 |
| Local transport | ₹500–1,500 |
| Phone, data, laundry, toiletries | ₹1,000–2,000 |
| Books, printing, stationery | ₹500–1,500 |
| Total | About ₹4,000–9,000 |
Add yearly costs: two return trips home, winter clothing (Rupandehi has cool winters) and any medical needs.
Is Devdaha Medical College Recognised? Checks to Do Before Paying
Do not rely on a brochure or a counsellor’s word alone. Studying at a Kathmandu University-affiliated college does not mean the college name will pass India’s licensing exam for you. Before paying, verify these yourself:
- Ask the college for its current recognition documents and check them against the official Nepal Medical Council and Kathmandu University records.
- Check whether the college appears in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools.
- Read the National Medical Commission’s latest rules for Indian students who study MBBS abroad, including NEET-UG, course duration and internship.
- Confirm that you will need to clear India’s licensing screening exam (NExT/FMGE) to practise in India, as with any foreign medical degree.
- Keep every reply from the college in writing, with its date.
